Keeping the Isle of Man
pain-free since 2007
As you’d probably expect from a clinic that’s dedicated to taking your pains away, we’re in a quiet, tranquil, home-from-home setting where you’ll feel relaxed even before we treat you. Based in Union Mills, just outside Douglas, there’s plenty of free parking, and we’re easily accessible if you’re less mobile.
Meet our founder, Clare Townsend
Clare’s primary focus is on making you feel better. She opened the Pain Clinic in 2007, after training with the Original School of Bowen Therapy in Australia, and has been helping Islanders stay pain-free ever since.
Along with the clinic’s fully trained practitioners, she’s a member of Bowen Association UK (BAUK), Federation of Holistic Therapies (FHT), and the NHS Directory of Complementary Therapies (NHST). The team also attends regular courses to keep their affiliation up to date.
Clare is an expert in myofascial, trigger point soft tissue therapy, and over the past 10 years, she has trained with many skilled practitioners, including:
- Occupational therapist Kelly Clancy
- Mike Stewart from PainKnow.com
- Yoga master Gary Carter
- Kinesiotape and craniosacral specialist John Wilks
She has combined all these specialisms to create her unique, natural pain-relief technique, which pinpoints the source of pain and corrects the dysfunction.
Claire is also trained in Equine Muscle Release Therapy
– a similar treatment for horses – and has worked with top veterinary surgeons, racehorse trainers, riders, saddlers and dentists all around the world.
